Description
Matcha green tea powder is a traditional Japanese green tea that has been used in Japanese tea ceremonies for over a thousand years. Matcha is actually a powdered form of the entire high-quality green tea leaf, which means that it is very conveniently dissolvable in hot or cold water, without the need for tea bags or steeping.
So you just basically drink almost the entire leaf when you make a cup of matcha green tea. This provides much more nutrition then a typical cup of green tea. In fact, it has been said that you would have to drink 10 cups of regular brewed green tea to equal the nutrition in just 1 cup of matcha green tea!
Fukuoka Natural Farming Transition
Haraki-Gordon Matcha Green Tea powder is the highest grade tea on the market — Imperial grade with the distinction of being gifted to the Emperor. It has won awards! There is no higher quality matcha on the market, or a better type of farming used to cultivate it:
As of early 2019, the Haraki-Gordon farms in Japan are being converted to the Masanobu Fukuoka style of Natural Farming. This type of farming is one where no chemicals are used at all. (Organic farming still uses chemicals — our tea does not.) What this means is that all use of any pesticides, fertilizers or fungicides, etc has been completely halted.
The farms will also refrain from using any type of pruning, trimming, tilling or weeding procedures as well. This type of natural farming practice was pioneered by Masanobu Fukuoka, who “was a Japanese farmer and philosopher celebrated for his natural farming and re-vegetation of desert-ified lands. He was a proponent of no-till, no-herbicide grain cultivation farming methods traditional to many indigenous cultures, from which he created a particular method of farming, commonly referred to as “natural farming” or “do-nothing farming”.
I am beyond proud to help bring such a product to our US market, and I know that you will love the tea as well.
A Family Farm and Business
Haraki-Gordon Matcha Green Tea is grown on the Haraki family farm in Shizuoka, Japan; one of the most famous green tea growing areas of the world. The Haraki family has been growing this type of green tea for over 700 years!
I came across this tea locally in Sarasota, as my good friend Izumi Haraki-Gordon distributes her family’s tea at the Farmer’s Market downtown. This pristine tea is imported directly from her family farm where she grew up…and now I have the pleasure of being able to provide it to you!
I absolutely love this tea and I drink it in some form every single day…I usually just put it into my smoothie every day to get the great benefits without the fuss of drinking it hot.
The amount of tea in one bag is 3 ounces of tea powder, which will make 200 8-ounce tea cups or 100 16-ounce water bottles! You only need about 1/4-1/2 teaspoon per serving, so it lasts a long time! Note that the best quality is with refrigeration after opening.
